Both Paulus and Stenli have had a day off in-between guests, the perfect opportunity for us to head out together on another photographic mission. Stenli likes to shoot the Canon 1DX whereas Paulus is happy to take the Panasonic GH4 out – stay tuned for their results.
To say that my dives with the two of them are always a bit “stressful” sounds so negative, it’s of course positive stress 😉 However you just can’t stay with your subject for more than 5 minutes because sure enough either Paulus or Stenli will find another highlight on the dive to shoot!
Velvet fish, black and brown Hairy Frogfish, new species of Nudibranchs, Giant as well as tiny baby Frogfish, different species of Crustaceans of course and to top it off, some unidentified species on the Blackwater Night Dive… the list continues on. Needless to say that I’ve also missed quite a few specials like the mating or fighting Mototi Octopus, Blue-Ringed Octopus or Wonderpus so the gallery is just a showcase of the critters I have seen myself.
It’s just incredible to see that even the most experienced guides like Paulus and Stenli with thousands of dives in the Lembeh Strait still find new species and critters they’ve never seen before. And even nicer to see that they’re still “hot” to go diving in Lembeh even when the water now is getting cooler 😉
