What is Muck Diving? Muck Diving is a specific type of diving for folks who enjoy taking things slow and looking around on seemingly 'boring' sandy divesites. Once you slow down and take a look you will notice a myriad of little critters hiding on or in the sand. Once you start to dive the site at different times of day you will also notice that you see different critters at different times of the day, much like a shift change in a factory. Muck diving isnt 'dirty,' it's an unfortunate name given to this critter hunt style diving. It's the easiest way to spot Mimic Octopus, Wonderpus, Hairy Frogfish, Rhinopias - with a little luck and some effort you should be able to find most of those critters during a weeks stay (hehe, not guaranteed though All of this is not to say that Lembeh has no corals, far from it... I was surprised by just how much coral there is around Lembeh, our housereef has tons of living hard coral, and out on the sites you'll find more species of coral than in 95% of the other dive destinations around the world!
