The NAD Photo Center was established back in 2009 by Mike Veitch and Simon. At the time Simon and Mike were both Field Editors for Scuba Diver Australasia, and submitting photographic works to various other magazines. We didn’t set this up on PADI Digital Photography course outlines! Mike went on to win one of the most prestigious awards in Photography – The Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year.  During this time we built 2 new camera rooms which are still in use today. After several rounds of refurbishment over the years we now have 1 large camera room.

These days Sonja teaches the photo classes and is on hand for housing repairs such as sticking housing latches or misaligned buttons. As the owner of the resort it is not really appropriate for Simon to charge for photo classes anymore, but he is happy to give advice to those who are interested when he is out on the dive boat.

Simon also performs more vigorous servicing of cameras and housings and has completed service training for Nauticam camera housings in China.

Our huge Camera Room is waiting for you!

We also have a 4K ready Panasonic GH4 camera and housing setup ready to rent if you have a housing disaster whilst staying with us.  Need a rental strobe? We have Inon, Sea and Sea and if you’re really desperate; a set of Ikelites have been on the give-away shelf for quite a while now!

We also have 4K tv’s, Eizo colour corrected monitors and a full edit suite should you have professional needs for a location shoot.

Our Camera Room has individual work stations and lots of nice towels to pamper your camera.  It also has a dry cabinet to help recover a partial flood and a selection of imagery on display.

We also stock a variety of spare parts in the event of a failure or a desire for some retail therapy.

Simon has owned almost every type of camera housing; Subal, Nexus, Canon, Aquatica,  and currently Nauticam.  His first cameras were film cameras such as the Nikonos V and Nikon F90.  This gives him a rounded skill set on housing repairs, but also makes him appreciate his current line up of equipment!
