Even though these weeks are all about the Hairy Octopus (we are seeing them on a daily basis – even several per day – since almost two weeks), there are also many other cool critters found right now. We still go for Hairy Frogfish, all other types of Frogfishes, Blue Ringed Octopus, Wonderpus, Mimic octopus, Harlequin Shrimps, Tiger Shrimps, Hairy Shrimps, Green Shrimps, Ghostpipe Fishes, Ambon Scorpionfishes and and and. Also lots of cool Nudibranchs are around. Superstars like the Bornella anguilla or the Solar Powered Nudibranchs, but also underdogs like the Favorinus Nudibranchs. The Favorinus are part of the Facelinidae and feed on the Egg mass of other nudibranchs. This picture was taken on a dive with Hairy Octopus, Blue Ringed Octopus, Tiger Shrimps, Tozeuma Shrimp, Frogfish, Seahorse and much more … still this one is my personal favourite. It shows two different species of Favorinus feeding together: The big pink one is a Pacific Favorinus (Favorinus pacificus) and the two smaller ones are Tsuruga Bay Favorinus (Favorinus tsuruganus). Enjoy your Egg snack guys!
