[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The majority of our guests are not only divers but also photographers. Therefore, it is a big plus if you can provide dive guides with a photography background. We have several camera setups for rental, available for our guides whenever they want to go fun diving. In order to give them an incentive to improve their photo skills, we organized a little dive guide photo competition with some great prices![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For the whole month of May, all our dive guides headed out to practice and shoot different critters whenever they didn’t go guiding. Some of them were happy to take pictures with our Olympus TG4, a very powerful compact camera, only using the light of a torch. The more advanced guides jumped straight into different lighting techniques or wide angle shots with the Panasonic GH4 and Nikon D500.

We also did some work in Lightroom, starting from how to transfer and organize photos to basic editing and exporting with watermarks. Guides with previous experience helped the ones with very little camera but also computer knowledge – needless to say that it made the whole dive team grow together a little more.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]By the end of May, all dive guides handed in their best picture after I’ve given them a simple advise on what the audience usually likes to see: “color, cute or rare!”. We then uploaded all 13 pictures to facebook in two different categories (Compact and Mirrorless/ DSLR) and ran the dive guide photo competition for 7 days. A few days ago we then finally had 3 winners according to the “Likes” and gave out the prices in a little winner’s ceremony:
