Rojos is a Black Sand Muck Dive on the northern Island Side of the Strait. It is located in Between Batu Sandar and Angels Window – just next or half under a Pearl Farm. Besides some Coral Patches in the Shallows it is basicly just very fine (but not muddy) black sand with some small sponges or debris here and there. But rather clean sand. The Sandy area starts with a relatively flat part from 3-7 meters and then drops steeply down to about 25-30 meters.

Rojos is a very good place to see Octopus: Mimic Octopus, Long Armed Octopus, White-V Octopus, Coconut Octopus or also Common Reef Octopus. Besides that Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Frogfish, Pipehorses, Janolus Nudibranchs, Hairy Shrimps, Tiger Shrimps, Ambon Scorpionfishes, Common Seahorses and Robust Ghostpipefishes can be seen regularly. Seasonaly also Ornate Ghostpipefishes. during the rainy season sometimes waves come in from the north and make Rojos not an ideal choice. Other than that it is always a good dive: It can be dived for first, second or third dive and offers good light throughout the day.

Rojos is good with any lens – from Fisheye or Wide Angle (for dramatic octopus shots) over Macro to Super Macro.
