The new year has come, and with that it is not uncommon to go through a reflection of the previous year. I thought it would be fun to look at some of our most liked photos of 2019! This is based off our Instagram account, where we post daily. Instagram is a great media outlet and it’s very easy for us to see what makes a popular photo! If you are not already following us, please do at NADLembeh.

These are our 9 most popular photos of 2019 (based on likes). As you can see we have a slight theme within the colour palette. Bright coloured photos do really well, with 2 bright orange Juvenile Painted Frogfish taking 1st and 8th place! Pink/purple tones were well liked with a gorgeous Hairy shrimp taking 3rd place and the Flamboyant cuttlefish coming in 4th.

A simple head-on shot of a Glossodoris Sp came in 6th, but again it has a very appealing colour palette and Nudibranch are always popular! The Blue-Ringed Octopus which is high on the wishlist for a lot of our guests came 9th.
There are only 3 Blackwater photographs up there which is slightly surprising, but as most Blackwater photos usually feature something strange and fascinating and not always the most “pretty”, it makes sense for the more colourful shots to be liked by most viewers. 2nd place was given to a Juvenile Double Ended Pipefish and 7th place to a stunning photo of a Paper Nautilus (Argonaut) riding a Jellyfish.
The only video to make it into our “Top 9” was a video of a Blanket Octopus that got 5th place……you can go check out the video on our Facebook page. Let us know if you’d like to see more videos featured in 2020!
