The NAD Photo Center has been at the heart of our resort since 2009, founded by Simon and acclaimed underwater photographer Mike Veitch — both Field Editors for Scuba Diver Australasia at the time. Mike went on to win one of the most prestigious awards in photography, The Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year. We didn’t build this around a PADI Digital Photography course outline — we built it around what serious underwater photographers actually need.

Over the years we’ve gone through multiple rounds of refurbishment and now operate one large, purpose-built camera room designed specifically for underwater imaging. Simon has also completed professional service training for Nauticam camera housings in China, and can perform in-depth housing servicing on site — though we always recommend servicing and testing all equipment thoroughly before your trip.

Camera Room Equipment & Facilities

Our camera room is stocked with everything a serious underwater photographer or videographer could need during their stay in Lembeh. Equipment available on site includes:

  • Rental cameras & housings: Panasonic GH4 with housing available to rent in case of a housing emergency
  • Rental strobes: Inon and Sea & Sea strobes available for hire
  • Spare parts: O-rings, camera latches, and a wide range of replacement parts for common housing systems
  • Nauticam housing servicing: On-site servicing by Simon, who has completed Nauticam factory training in China
  • Dry cabinet: Available to assist with partial flood recovery
  • Monitoring & editing: 4K TVs, Eizo colour-corrected monitors, and a full edit suite for professional location shoots
  • Individual workstations: Dedicated rinse stations with plenty of towels to keep your gear pampered between dives

For the serious video shooter, we also have access to large-format 8K-capable camera systems for professional video productions. And yes — there’s still a set of Ikelites on the shelf if you’re truly desperate.

Photography-Focused Dive Guides

The camera room is only half the picture. Our dive guides are experienced working alongside photographers shooting Canon, Nikon, and mirrorless systems in Nauticam housings — they understand your shooting needs underwater, know how to position critters without stressing them, and are patient with macro work. If you want to discuss a specific subject, technique, or shooting setup before a dive, just ask.
